Windows Phone 7 OS sale get to 1.5 million

Microsoft has reported that there sales of its Windows Phone 7 mobile operating system have reached 1.5 million within six weeks of its release. Microsoft UK’s project chief, said that its operating system meant to make things easier for there users.

However, Berg confesses Microsoft was only “comfortable” with WP7′s progress, saying its performance was similar to other first generation mobile platforms. He said, “We’re in the race – it’s not a sprint but we are certainly gain in momentum and we’re in it for the long run.” He added

Berg also set several updates of WP7 that would be available in the next couple of months. According to recent reports, Nokia could discard MeeGo to develop hardware running on Microsoft’s WP7.

While 1.5 million sales have been made to phone manufacturers, it is still unclear how many devices have been sold to customers. Berg said WP7 sales figures “are similar to the performance of other first generation mobile platforms”.

With Apple selling more iPhone 4 devices to customers in three days than Microsoft have sold to manufacturers in six weeks, WP7 doesn’t look much like competition.
